COUNTY BOYS’ HOOPS TOP SEEDS TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS

Sophomore forward Josh Corbett scored a game-high 16 points, and Tavon Curry contributed 11, leading No. 16 Parkville to a 64-48 decision over Thomas Johnson in a Class 4A state North Region quarterfinal contest on Putty Hill Avenue Tuesday evening.

The region’s No. 1 seed Knights (16-6) will host No. 4 Walbrook in the semifinals Thursday. Walbrook defeated Linganore, 39-36, in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal.

Parkville took little time establishing its presence on the visitors from Frederick, leading 21-6 en route to a 34-21 advantage. Shea Fisher had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Patriots (10-14), and Max Fisher added 10.

Thomas Johnson: Randolph 3, Walker 6, Maddox 1, Jenkins 6, S. Fisher 12, M. Fisher 10, Bully 6, Comers 2. Totals 18 9-13 48.

Owings Mills 79, W.E.B. DuBois 67
Andrew Fitzgerald scored a game-high 30 points and Michael Kleeman added 14 as top-seed Owings Mills defeated No. 9 seed W.E.B. DuBois in a 1A North Region quarterfinal contest. The Eagles (17-5) will host No. 4 seed and ninth-ranked Digital Harbor Thursday evening in a semifinal match. Digital Harbor ended New Town’s reign as defending state 1A champs with a 56-50 victory Tuesday.

Karron Hunter added 13 points for Owings Mills, and Jared Levine had 11. Senior forward Deon Ballard led DuBois with 24 points.

Pikesville 64,Western Tech 59, 3 OT
Devan Gilmore and Frederick Sellers each scored 12 points as No. 2 seed Pikesville outlasted No. 10 seed Western Tech in three overtimes in a 1A North Region quarterfinal Tuesday. The Panthers (15-5) will host No. 3 seed Dunbar in the semifinals Thursday on Labyrinth Road.

Donzel Mooney had a game-high 17 points for Western Tech (8-15), and Patrick Gilreath added 13. The Catonsville school dropped an one-point decision to the Panthers during the regular season.

Western Tech:
Mooney 17, Mannone 4, Gilreath 13, Grant 8, Wilson 4, Reed 2, Stokes 11. Totals 21 15-24 59.
Pikesville:

Woodlawn 81, Perry Hall 63
Darius Nesmith had a game-best 18 points and Vince Grey chipped in 16 as Baltimore County champ and No. 4 Woodlawn opened the state postseason with a home victory over Perry Hall in a 4A North Region quarterfinal.

Keon Bennett added 14 for the Warriors (17-4), who will host North Carroll in the semifinals Thursday on Woodlawn Drive. North Carroll ended Dulaney’s season, 102-94, in Tuesday’s other quarterfinals.

Donovan Boyles (12) and Ben Hairston (10) also scored in double figures for Woodlawn, which led 43-29 at halftime. Kevin Sokolis had 18 points to lead Perry Hall (4-20), which defeated Westminster in the opening round last weekend.

Milford Mill 58, Hereford 39

Stephen McCray scored 15 points, leading Milford Mill past Hereford in a 3A North quarterfinal match on Washington Avenue. The Millers (13-8), seeded fourth in the region, will travel to Lake Clifton Thursday afternoon for a semifinal match with the region’s top seed and No. 1 team in the Digital Top 20. Lake Clifton ended Catonsville’s season, 73-44, in Tuesday’s quarterfinal round.

Xavier Drake added 10 points for Milford Mill, which won its seventh straight decision. Jake Gibson led the Bulls (12-11) with 15 points.

Hereford: Badawi 2, Rock 6, Sarris 4, Gibson 15, Wareheim 7, Fisher 5. Totals 13 9-15 39.

Loch Raven 67, Eastern Tech 37
Jordan Lee and Eugene Hawkins each scored 23 points as Loch Raven advanced to the 2A North Region semifinals with a quarterfinal rout of Eastern Tech. The Raiders will travel to No. 5 Randallstown Thursday evening for a matchup with the defending region champ Rams.

Xavier Keller led Eastern Tech with 16 points. The Raiders defeated the Mavericks three times this season.

Loch Raven:

Patterson 62, Patapsco 54

Trevor Howze scored 15 points, and Coreise Bruce added 12, lifting No. 7 seed Patterson past second-seed Patapsco in a 3A North Region quarterfinals. The Clippers will play Baltimore City league rival Mervo in Thursday’s semifinals. Mervo held off Dundalk, 39-36, in Tuesday’s quarterfinals.

Micquante Greene led all scorers with 25 points for Patapsco (14-8), and James Buettner added 13. Tyrell Crowell and Brian Lewis each chipped 10 for the Clippers.
